Hired by the Royal Australian Observatory to be the new gas expert, the geographical shift has Paul loving life again. However, things turn out to be more difficult than he thought. It's not that the job is particularly difficult; it's Paul who makes it difficult. Killing his new colleagues' pet snake, insulting the locals and needing to be rescued from an ill-advised midday walk in the bush isn't really a good way to spend your first day.
